How I’m Using Hangover Kits to Achieve My Goals This Year
I set out a a really simple goal this year, in the spirit of New Years resolutions and our social need to use a new year as a reason to start again.
No Off Days
A really simple goal that’s easy to remember and extremely simple yet complex in execution. Essentially, it means that I can’t have a single day this year where nothing gets done. That means no days spent lying in bed, feeling sorry for myself while watching Netflix and eating pizza. Every day must have at least one ‘ticked box’ on the to-do list.
Being a very self-aware lazy slob, I know that the only way for me to progress with goals I set myself is to remove any and every possible excuse. I’ve talked myself out of visiting the gym because the wind was blowing too strong before —the wind where I live is miserable in winter, but nowhere near a good enough excuse to not leave the house— so imagine how I respond when there is a real obstacle in the way, like the crushing headache’s and feelings of death that follow a good night out during a hangover!
With the simple goal of doing at least one productive/progressive thing for 365 days of the year, I had to make sure that even in the worse case scenario, there was no excuse for me not to move forward.
The worst case scenario that might actually break my chain of at-least-minimally-productive days —and I’m not including serious injury or anything extreme here, no goal is that serious that I can’t take a day or two off to recover and/or heal— would be serious mood dips and lethargy due to either illness or hangovers.
Luckily, my work (running the business of Sobur) is mostly online so even if ill, I can spend a little bit of time managing things from a bed/a small fortress of pillows, duvets and hot water bottles.
The problem then, is dealing with mood dips and lethargy due to hangovers. The best way to do this, in my opinion, is creating hangover preparedness kits that you keep in the house for when you wake up following large amounts of alcohol consumption and want to do nothing else but dive right back underneath the sheets.
I suggest heading to your local convenience store, picking up some Tupperware and compiling one or several of the below hangover kit combination suggestions to stash around your house. These are for emergencies only; when you’re suffering from hangovers so bad that you’re not sure you’ll survive through to the end of the day

Bachelor & Hen Party Hangover Kit
If you’re party date is anywhere near your wedding date, you’re going to need something to recover from that epic bachelor or bachelorette party. Here’s a few suggestions, as recommended by Lulubell Elaine:
- Hand sanitizer
- Hair ties
- Granola bar
- Antacid tablets
- & of course a barf bag!!
Whichever combination you decide to go with, it’s smart to do a little research into measures you can take to lessen the effects of hangovers overall so that you’re only forced to dive into your hangover survival kits occasionally.
For situations that only require light hangover healing measures, like 2-3 drinks on a school night that leave you feeling a little woozy on the way to work on the next day, I recommend to sticking to 1 or 2 capsules of Sobur and, surprisingly, a can/small bottle of Sprite, a fizzy lemonade drink that is proven to be pretty effective against hangovers.
Simple Hangover Kit Fundamentals & Ideas
Just from looking at the kit lists above, it’s pretty obvious that there are a few key items that should make up any good hangover kit. Looking for a shopping list that you can take to your local convenience store when buying your next hangover kit? Here you go:
Water is key in curing hangovers! A big part of the reason you feel horrible the day after drinking a lot of alcohol is due to alcohol dehydrating your body. Drinking water before, during and after boozing will help a lot. What happens when your stomach is too queasy for even water? Try sipping carbonated mineral water — the bubbles will help ease your nausea and water brands like S. Pellegrino contain sodium and potassium; two things alcohol causes you to lose a lot of.
Waking up after a big night of drinking, nothing will keep you up and make you feel better in the morning than a relaxing shower with good, refreshing body wash. The water and fragrant soap will wash off the toxins you’ve been sweating, not to mention last night’s ugly memories (note: I can’t promise that body wash alone will be enough to get rid of all memories)
The protein in eggs provides the body with needed energy and eggs also contain large amounts of cysteine, a chemical that breaks down the hangover-causing toxin acetaldehyde. Eggs can act like a mop, helping to clean up the lingering toxins in your body.
Bananas can help replenish lost electrolytes and potassium in the hungover body, as well as laying a healthy base for a queasy stomach. Similar potassium-rich fruits like kiwis and apricots can work just as well.
Sprite or any brand of fizzy lemonade
Low-fat sodium-rich food
The old adage goes that heavy breakfasts and fry-ups with lots of greasy bacon are a great idea to cure hangovers, but resist (if you can). The body responds much better to lighter foods like crackers or whole-wheat toast. These foods deliver energy, sodium and electrolytes, alleviating some hangover symptoms. Having a strong base of food in your stomach before you start drinking can also help slow the absorption of alcohol into your bloodstream.
Sobur Hangover Cure
An article about the perfect hangover kit would not be complete without mentioning the key component: a highly-effective hangover cure supplement. Sobur is the best hangover cure on the market and contains dihydromyricetin, a herbal extract touted by New Scientist and Wired magazine to be one of the only modern day hangover remedies that actually work! Two pills of Sobur, taken either before going to bed after drinking, or in the morning after waking up, will help eradicate your hangover completely and leave you clear-headed, ready to take on the day ahead of you:
